Three Arches Post Office
(November 8, 1933 – December 1, 1934)
Despite its official founding date, the Three Arches Post Office did not open until January 11, 1934. “Jack Lasley rented the first box and Frank Barr received the first letter. The post office is located in the Powers grocery store, Three Arches, and Mrs. Grace Powers is the postmistress.” (Register, 1-14-1934) After less than a year the post office was renamed South Laguna.
Postmaster:
Grace E. Powers, 1933-[1934]
Grace and Claude Powers were living along the south coast by the mid-1920s. Claude Powers ran an auto garage and service station along the Coast Highway.
